Heritage. Vision. Excellence.
Founded in 2007 in the heart of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mariachi Los Criollos migrated to Los Angeles in 2018 with a singular mission: to elevate the tradition of Mariachi to the global stage.
Led by visionary bandleader Joel Jacques, Los Criollos has evolved from a traditional ensemble into the industry’s premier cultural bridge. Our virtuosity has been sought after by the world’s most influential artists, featuring prominently in collaborations with Bruno Mars, Snow Tha Product, Dillon Francis, and Blueface.
Profiled by the Los Angeles Times, we provide a “Mariachi-Luxe” experience that honors our deep Mexican roots while commanding the modern spotlight. We don’t just play music; we create cultural landmarks for the next generation of listeners.
A legacy of strings and tradition
Born in the heart of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Joel Jacques’ musical journey began at home under the guidance of his father, Lazaro Jacques. This foundational passion led him to the prestigious Escuela Municipal del Mariachi in Guadalajara at age 20.
There, he honed his craft under the elite tutelage of Maestro Lino Briseño—a legendary former member of the world-renowned Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán. Joel further expanded his mastery of the heartbeat of Mariachi—the Guitarrón—under Maestro Guillermo Rojas.
Today, Joel remains a lifelong student of the art form, constantly evolving his technique through self-study and collaboration with the industry’s finest musicians. This rare blend of traditional “Old School” training and a modern, adaptive spirit is what makes him the first-call director for global artists and prestigious cultural productions.
